Short selling adds literally nothing but market instability, abuse, speculation and manipulation. If you want to bet for or against future price moves without owning the stock, set up a futures market and gamble (er… speculate) to your hearts content. All I would wish for is that such folks would not try to persuade people that messing around in ACTUAL markets for ACTUAL things is somehow a really OK thing to be doing.
