Yes. Bob Hawke handed out the Honor of the bestowment of Companion of the Order of Australia way back then, to Prince Philip, as then Prime Minister - in 1988! (N.B. Neil Mitchell, and his 3AWadio producers should have looked a bit harder! They said they could find No record of such! Dear old Shorten - uttered not one word of protest - when Mum-in-Law was awarded her Damehood, last year. (She could have refused it - but didn't!) One would ask what was it she had done - which was so special, SO remarkable, that she deserved THAT highest award!
Prince Philip an unsung hero of WW2 - and he actively helped in the defence of Australia. As well as taking a massive personal part in lots of other heroic events - along with so many brave companions. I suggest his life makes far better reading in the personal heroics department than Bill Shorten and Co's ever will!I'll put up the info about in in a later post, soon. He's now 93. Good on Tny Abbott for having the courage to recognise his huge achievements before it's too late for such honor in his lifetime.
