@dub - thanks for that link - will buy it - and read it. Have personal experience that good deeds give you a much bigger rush than bad things - I think, we all have.
Just generally, our TV viewing and the programs which target our baser instincts, do nothing for us, except maybe the kind of rush drug takers get - from being flooded by the various hormones violence, sex etc. on viewing such scenes - give us, possibly to a lesser and more tolerable degree, but enough to (a) get a rush from and (b) inflict a kind of immunity to the real thing on us, which is also bad.
I avoid such programs, movies etc. , but force myself at times to view anything which is historically important.
