water shortage nsw

Please tell me as i do not hear anything from the new premier about the water problem this state faces.
I think that we should have some sort of open forum on the topic as it will effect ever single person in this state. We are down to 37% storage of water or 18 months, we will need to have some serious rain to fill the dam.We can not drain the storage to zero, so there needs to be some form of rationing to start some.
If you wake up one morning and turn the tap on and nothing comes out what are you going to do.
Do not worry about house prices if there is no water your house will be worth nothing, as no one can live here for more than three days without water.
The state will at some time in the not to distant furture run out of water it is not if but when that happens.
I do not think that i am being alarmist, i think that we must look forward to what can happen.
New Orleans is a good example of money being diverted from the levees to fight a war. In our case i think that it was because we had indiferant leadership for a long time in NSW.
The spec for the desalination plant have it making around 300000 tons of fresh water per day if this is right it is one very big plant.
The plant is only 10% efficient so they will need to pump a lot of water through the plant
This will take alot of energy to run as well as maintanence to keep it in good order.
The suction pipe will need to be at least 12 miles out to sea as we have a sewage discharge pipes some 3 miles
    out.
If you have ever been out there the smell and the colour is not very good.
Onboard all ships i have ever been on we have to stop making fresh water 12 miles from the coast so this same law should also apply to the desalination plant.
    Regards Dennis
