The reason he paid no tax was because he receives a disability pension from the government. He also went on to say that if he received an increase in the pension equivalent to the tax cut offered to those earning around $80k then he would receive a much better quality of life and be able to take his children to the movies. Perhaps he may need to get a casual job to supplement his income.
