Tesla will be introducing a smaller suburban model with a battery purpose built to run a standard home for 4 days and enabling the vehicle to travel up to 400 kLM, which is slotted for release in 2017, it's hoped the economics of production will enable the consumer to have 2 batteries one for the home and one for the car that are interchangeable, the battery is being purpose built for the largest provider of Solar PV in the USA, if memory serves me correctly it is being designed by Panasonic and will be manufactured at the new Tesla plant
