Kieran Loveridge is reportedly about to be released from a long sentence for a one-punch killing of Thomas Kelly at Kings Cross in 2012.

Kelly's parents with kindness supported Loveridge's parole application but then the court came to decide they learned important information of Loveridge's violence inside the bin during his sentence. they more rightly realise they've supported an undeserving cause and fear for the community safety when Loveridge has a drink.

and one of the Skaf boys is also being released.

the recidivism rate for those released has hovered around 50% for many years. this means that half of those released from prison will offend again within 12 months.... and be caught, tried and sentenced.

I've believed for many years there are some people who should never be released. some people have more severe personality and behavioural issues than most people do. once these traits have come to the attention of police there should, imo only, be the potential for extension of a sentence should a full psychological profile and case notes from all associated professionals who know the person, indicate a consistent pattern that argues the probability of re-offending.

prison release is a most dangerous time for most people. its the ones who leave with confidence that always used to frighten me.
