It is up to the judge to set the full punishment at the time of sentencing not for the sentence to be set at the whim of the judiciary later on.

but, how should the justice system handle something like this

Person A is charged, tried and found guilty of a violent crime - and is sentenced - say for 10 years.

They serve their 10 years - but, show violent tendency all through those years and those tendencies appear to be getting worse

what should the justice system do at the end of the sentence? ------------ let em loose in the community?
