    to my knowledge, to add to that, speed cameras have not saved a single life. because giving someone a speeding fine is retrospective and you cannot relate that to stopping a future accident

    this issue of speeding/driving is similar to the battle on drugs/alcohol/smoking

    you cant keep trying to fix the symptoms and cover up the underlying issue.

    alcohol causing problems - let's raise the prices
    smoking causing cancer - lets raise the prices
    people going over the speed limit - let's fine them

    none of these have fixed the real issue, because none of them relate to the real problem

    the cost of cigarettes has nothing to do with whether you get cancer or not. when you put it like that it makes no sense

    how can so many countries with less road toll than us have higher speed limits? does physics work differently in those countries? no, because to a large degree dangerous driving is more related to bad driving than slightly faster driving

    that's the problem, people not knowing how to drive and cutting lanes and swerving at the "right" speed limit, not someone going 110kph on a straight 4 lane freeway
