I think you will find that now he is formally in the role, that there would be a number of introductions and meetings occurring this week. Major shareholders, etc. As a NED, these are counterparts that he would not normally have associations with but now needs to build those relationships to operate effectively as the new CEO.
Give him a week or two (as next week is likely to be a very "short" week given ANZAC Day) to get these meetings and introductions out of the way and then we can start judging on what he does next.
