Across Australia there have been failures in the hotel quarantine system. We are chasing the results of leakage in Victoria and NSW now. Hopefully we will beat it.
Inevitably there will be more failures. This is foreseeable and inevitable.
Future leakage of the highly contagious UK strain will be unable to be remedied, it will spread too quickly to deal with.
We should do the obvious thing and upgrade from the current system which has demonstrated leaks which would be disaster out within the UK strain. The current system isn’t good enough for the UK strain.
A higher security system is necessary for the more infectious UK strain. The workers and travelers need to be more securely isolated.
Until the system is adapted to the higher risk we should pause the system.
