How could marles and conroy stuff up such a critical agreement.? First we had the bs French conventional sub project which never made sense but made China very happy. Then AUKUS was announced. Excellent agreement and China not happy for obvious reasons.One being the virginia sub is superior to the china subs.
So what do marles and conroy do,they buy 2 different nuclear subs,not one design but 2 designs with imo the obvious problems of associated with having 2 nuclear sub designs.
So labor gives the US $3 billion to expand their sub industrial base. Then labor govt gives the UK $5 billion to expand their sub industrial base. No subs purchases involved just a gift of $8 billion.
What DH's imo only. Wont comment on the AUKUS sub which we wont get till 2040's and who knows what technologies will be developed by then.
So labor will buy 2 or 3 old virginia class when the US is ready .@#$% that bs imo only.
What the DH's should have done is target the Virginia class only.
Give them the $3 billion to expand their sub industrial base.Pay that $5 billion for the first virginia sub ,construction to start start 2025. Why 2025 because Australian company Austal will have completed its US expansion in US with a 1.5 m sqt facility which already produces virginia class fully fitted out modules that only require assembly.So Austal has full experience constructing virginia class subs.ASC could do the assembly. 2025 we will be in the position to supply the hull steel. Bottom line US congress and US navy wants to increase the US sub industrial base ,Australia is prodiving AUSTAL US,a new hull steel supplier which for obvious reasons is not easy to find,$3 billion gift and $5 billion well above the normal cost of a new virginia class. Result because of Australia the US in 2025 will have that increased industrial base but we get old subs when the US wants.
etc but no marles,conroy and the labor govt decide to source 2 nuclear subs and we get them when the UK and US say.conplete bs.
