I love being able to go to French or Thai restaurants, having Aussie food every day would be boring. However when people come to this country and seek to bring the bad aspects of their original country/culture (the bits they were supposedly escaping for) that shouldn't be on. There should be the expectation that if people want to come here, they will contribute positively. There shouldn't be any leniency really, automatic deportation for any crimes (even as little as minor shoplifting) and certainly no welfare before a certain number of years. Perhaps even things like mandatory community service etc as a way for people to "earn" their place in this great country of ours. There are many fantastic immigrants though, and they should be welcomed with open arms. However there needs to be a way to filter out those who don't wish to integrate into our society and contribute.

Have we had enough yet of these cowards attacking unsuspecting people in their homes or living environment? No wonder there were people rioting. Not that it should be condoned, but I can understand the frustration people are feeling and would not be surprised if there are more vigilante groups appearing in future. It would seem, that people are not feeling made safe by the authorities.
