Apparently there was a lot of phone calls made to judge the reaction of raising the GST and from those responses they know that they will lose an election on that policy alone.

No surprise they are dumping it like a hot potato.

But that's the point, the GST increase is not an isolated policy!
It was to be in conjunction to funding education and others, etc.
