I have no idea how these complicated threads work. But I was hoping that this one which I started could remain, simply for Tamla Motown lovers. You have missed out on an amazing story, if you did not follow the creation of Tamla Motown, in Motortown Detroit. This was the absolute beginning of a wonderful story, which has endured to this day. Berry Gordy was the man behind it and it started with very humble beginnings.
Many singers were gospel singers and suddenly in the early 60’s they started to be accepted in Britain and elsewhere by white people. The sound is very distinct and it got everyone up on the floor dancing.
Even The Beatles loved Tamla. I guess if you did not grow up with it, it is an acquired taste, but it was so successful. They produced hit after hit, almost on a weekly basis. It was adored by mods, of course I was one. Think Twiggy, Mary Quant etc.
Perhaps you should listen to some and then you would appreciate this everlasting music
