As an example, the big bucks CRN made in 2023FY were from when the coking coal price was around 50-100% higher.
they were also the cheapest coal miner in Australia with regards to cost per tonne. However their costs went up ridiculously high in comparison to the previous year. Yes inflation was the cause and very bad weather and derailment, flooding of railway.
FYI , you don’t need to hold a short position to goshort. I’ve always said to follow the trend and also watch all markets and make that educated decision. You can hedge as well.
