Thanks for making the effort to rephrase your response. If you re-read my post, at no point did i say that "our forefathers...would be against giving up a few liberties to protect us".
I said that I am against giving up said liberties, because i do not believe that the world is any more dangerous a place than it was 100 years ago.
In fact, i would venture to say that i think it is a far less dangerous place, and a sense of perspective might save us from repeating the same mistakes we made 100 years ago.
Anyway, i appreciate you have good intentions, and respect that your personal experiences are different from mine, and i acknowledge that there is no simple way for everybody to be content with how we go about sharing a sense of security amongst all people. But for mine, the solution always has and always will come from within, and demands that cool heads prevail or else things spiral out of control for those susceptible to such momentum
