Plough, was your great grandfather aboriginal or African or a person of colour by any chance? I suppose not coz he travelled and had many freedoms. Considering he is your great grandfather I could assume he wasn't gay. Where was your grandmother who didn't have the right to vote and faced all sorts of sex discrimination.
Maybe your great grandfather, like mine, was lucky to be born white and a male. I suppose it depends on who we are talking about . We may have a lot more bureaucracy, but that comes with the times and is often for our own protection.
