re the CPI number I actually think right now the US is in the sweet spot after all annualized we are only looking at a smidge over 2%
many forget that it was not that long ago that everyone was worried about deflation and Japan scenario playing out for the US leading to a lost decade or two for US markets
Well this is clearly not going to happen (not that deflation was ever a real threat for the US)
A bit of inflation is also extremely bullish for commodities
Now of course too much inflation will lead to higher and higher rates to try cool things which will eventually bring the house of cards down but we must remember we are coming off such abnormally and artificially low rates that such a scenario wont play out overnight
we are certainly in the latter part of this game but until inflation starts to really get out of hand requiring rates to really be hiked in the US I dont see the umpire reaching for his whistle and even then theres the FED and Govt who may call for overtime
