pints I agree however a double dissolution halves the normal quota for a senate seat, so imo you would see more not less Greens & Independents.
Most people just dont understand how the senate voting system works, nor how preferences deals are done and how that affects the outcome.
And most people are lazy, and vote above the line, thus playing straight into the hands of the faceless deal-makers who manipulate this ignorance and perpetuate the system we now have.
Optional preferential voting, and only making people vote as far down the order as they wish, should be the norm.
Along with voluntary voting. This would make the political parties work much harder to win votes and convince people to go to the polling booth. It would also crimp the massive amount of taxpayer funding they all reap out of our pockets.
