Yep, Americans have a lot to lose (or to change) by going electric. The nation seems to be captured by Guns, (Big) oil, meat, God and Trumpism. They are poorly educated on average, are parochial, insular and levels of income inequality are staggering.
I'm not saying everything about the USA is bad. No: they have the finest of everything there too and have the world's most productive economy (with assistance from FF ?). Its a pretty big population, with roughly 80-100 million well educated and 'modern'. Levels of innovation are high in spots and very high in a few spots. But getting EV's to surplant ICE cars is going to take a clear dramatic advantage as perceived by Joe Shmoe in doing so, and its also probably going to take an equalisation of income to some degree.
It'll be an uphill battle for a couple of decades.
