g'day Joh. the continuum of political opinion is usually expressed in a straight line right and left of centre. but from my reading and observations both extremes are closer to each other than mid right/left. extreme opinions are often an indication of mental instability. so my idea of the continuum is circular which left and right extremes proximal rather than distal to each other.
