In terms of harm and crime alcohol is and has always been the number one killer, wife beater and harbinger of poverty. But no one has ever died from an overdose of marijuana or killed anyone due to its mild intoxication effects. In a perfect world no one should take drugs (that's a given), but on balance marijuana is way WAY down the scale compared to booze and the horrors it has caused throughout history. And yet, one is legal and the other not.
