An excellent, intelligent post.

Maybe all our new battery powered vehicles will be injection molded plastics for light weight? (Of course the latest airliners are now being made of plastic instead of metals like aluminum.)

I agree with you that the phase out of oil/gas for fuel will be gradual but it has started and I suggest the use of coal and oil will be a lot less in 15 years than now (no doubt there will still be some coal used in (say) 40 years time).
