in the Sodium case its the battery life and limited recharge cycles issue at the moment, similar with the supercapacitors discussion taking over Li batteries, currently to achieve sufficient charge versus Klm range it requires a capacitor the size of a bus and they are generally 5 times the price, but sure we all need to keep a watch on developments in other areas.
