    I think we would be better off without a senate at all. Instead, a requirement of those elected by the public to uphold promises made during an election campaign or promised in the term of office. Only in the event of global catastrophe or an obvious political blockade would those promises be exempt. In the case of failing to uphold an election promise then the forfeit of all pay/benefits would ensue and said member would be relieved of their position. The party member taking up the position of the failed member would be then required to give reason as to why the promises cannot be met or face the same fate as the previous member. Our political representatives have little reason to represent us. Give them a reason.
