I reckon a few products in the past have been brought out when not really ready. The damage done can be irreversible. If the product is at least as good (the one you detail takes 12 mins?) as the competition then surely it all comes down to price, quality and reliability.
Your argument seems to say thst once the first toaster was invented it was all over, no one else need market a different toaster because the first one made toast in 3 mins and the toast was brown. Not quite that simple i think. Phillips is a major brand name and some may view that as a plus in their decision, as long as they dont take your advice and just throw it on the market asap.
