Maybe in response to article in paper re Indonesian Greens taking them court. Old news though has been reported in JKT two days ago. Halmahera is a cash cow and if disrupted will have material impact on earnings.
Problem is the greens have no case - clearly a case of attempted extortion. It breathtaking that they have the gumption to take NCM to court amidst the wholesale carnage that is wreaked daily by local operators. Anyway the legal system in Indo is utterly currupt. The Judge will rule in favour of the greens and issue some idiotic notice, probably to shut down, then send one his lackeys out to seek some $ to reverse judgement on appeal.
Given it has taken so long for this news to hit Aust - check to see if anything has come against Newmont. They are being accused of polluting a bay in Sulewasi and causing Minimatas disease in the local population. This is fairly serious [but not thier fault]- the negative sentiment might make an opportunity to short.
