I read a article the other day Tinder sign ups is something like 60% male 40% female but then actual Tinder time on app is something like 80% male 20% female. Girls just get bombed with thousands of messages hence why looking is more of a chore than anything else. Other newer apps in the same kind of Tinder light seem to address this like Bumble that have - "girls message first".
