Good points. I agree $5 will take some time to come around again - will take a lot more than the roaming decision to go their way!
Agree structural change is pretty much why the Telstra dividend and SP is where it is and I think most of it is factored in.
Where the communications industry drifts to next will pretty much determine the future for Telstra. They’re in a good position to leverage their size and current market position to drive the next “structural change” back towards increasing mobile connectedness, partly alongside NBN and partly in place of NBN. People want to be increasingly connected 24/7 wherever they are to high capacity data and will pay for it. Add to that an explosion of IoT and I think that will be Telstra’s salvation.
Other Tech stuff might make nice sidelines though the big picture is network!
