Mike, I understand your point entirely. On the 'for cultural reasons', though, my understanding is that this is demonstrating some sort of cultural respect for aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander custom of not saying names of the dead or something like that. I have no idea what it's based on.
I just imagine that if a media organisation did publish names in contravention of this convention, there would be the inevitable howls from the Left about abuse of indigenous people's rights, etc.
But yes, it's all part of a muzzling of expression and PC nuttiness.
Yet, at the same time, we see some of the most horrendously cruel remarks on such as Twitter where no such restrictions seem to apply.
