i am very aware that Jacinda is not well liked by many in NZ and we have yet to see her economic prowess. however the polls still say she is popular - both her party and her personal rating are ahead of competitors. is it surprising that she has detractors - of course not and we see some of them on here.
but actually i do know the other leader - as leader of Taiwan she deserves considerably more accolades than she gets - maybe the consequence of being asian and thus not regularly in people's sights.but last year she was deeply unpopular for a number of reasons. They included her position on gay marriage and there were people then worried about her stance on china which many locally saw as confrontational. China's approach to hong kong would have helped her. as the Taiwanese, used to democracy and freedom, saw how increasing closeness to China turned out.
