    Fair comment to point one. My, well intended, intention of providing context by using the article / source is to discourage the below two issues.

    Firstly, you did not acknowledge the source of the byline that you used; and secondly, you attributed a conclusion that was not borne out or developed at any point within the article itself. Not only does this have the potential to distort what points the writer is actually wanting to convey, but also how HC posters, in turn, will respond. If you wanted to draw a conclusion that uni's are overfunded, use an article that supports that conclusion. This was not that article.

    If anything, the conclusion should have been a long the lines of Thomson: "“Many of these students are entering university directly because there is a funding system to allow this. They should be entering university through a preparatory pathway but the system effectively discourages this." This should be your debating point.
