Correct. My wife and I live on decent acreage south of Brisbane. Our first house cost us $10000 (yes it was decades ago). We gradually improved on our accommodation by buying and selling sensibly and now live in our home mortgage free!! Our son get married a few years ago and bought a house on acreage near ours. Bigger acreage and bigger house with a massive mortgage. Marriage lasted only a few years. Had to sell out move into rental accommodation and still pay off a mortgage to the bank on a house he does not own.
