I had some discussions with some young men, many you would not like, of course, many you would
Many times the discussion went like this ....
They said they had no education. Who was I to refute?
They said they had no trade? It was obvious after a few days.
They said they had no money. No problems about this
They said they could not marry the girl of their dreams, as of the above, and the girls father wanted the best for their daughter. I could understand the fathers position, having 2 daughters
They said they had no future? Perhaps?
They said their life was like being born in a prison, by a process they did not know. Its called poverty
They said there was no door to the prison. They could never get out. Agreed.
The windows were small, but better than before. There was the internet. Agreed
They said they had a "job offer", they could be paid $5 a day. Their job description was not concise. At first...It was a job against the infidells (not their words, but I will be brief)
They took the job at $5/day, and their life turned around.
The AK47 was smaller than they thought, as they thought power was size.
They became young men of a future, and a vision
Well they were uneducated, but they were smart enough to know.
Autralia is not a smart company. We dig things out of the ground, and we transport.....
We need to get a lot smarter.

A nice philosophy and you are correct--we are not a smart country
But what has stopped us from being a fully fledged banana republic?
The Asian brains, southern European brawn and the English legal system--a decent thing compared to the rest of the world
But believing the Middle Easterners who are brilliant business people and the versatility of the Africans is not a big plus---given most who arrive here are good people------ is a really dumb thing!
