You would need to be stone deaf not to hear a lot of sabre rattling from Putin. Sadly the islamic US president does not have the diplomacy needed to defuse anything.
I am seeing the Cuban Missile Crisis Pt II. Khrushchev thought he could bluff a young naive president but once JFK caught him early and took a strong stand, neither really wanted war. As part of the peace agreement Kennedy agreed to remove rusty old missiles from Turkey. Had they never been there in the first place, K would not have got involved with Castro.
What have we now, a belligerent NATO putting missiles in countries that ring Russia. This is in violation of Gorbachev's "glasnost" which proscribed this. So we have a Russian Prez pissed that NATO missiles are on his borders and he sees weak leaders around him, half of whom need his gas and oil. He sees Obama especially as a weak leader so with two years to go of his lame duck presidency he is pushing his luck.
If NATO did the right thing and drew back their rockets, things might change. How would I know?
