My first post for many years, however as a nasho, and a returned Vietnam veteran I concur with a lot that has been written here today. I also had the fear of god put into me when the enemy was only feet away while we on a standing patrol one night. When we returned we WERE treated badly by the RSL members because OURS was not a recognised war. It took me 45 years to go back but I'm so glad I did and took my wife as well. I had the privilege of reciting the ode at the Long Tan memorial site. As result of my returning we found a young guy whose family suffered very badly because of the conflict. He lost many members of his parents families and yes, they were Viet Con. That boy is now our adopted son, he lives in Da Nang with his wife and two of our grandchildren. We built a beautiful home for them, purchased shares in a company which he now is the VP and does trade internationally. So today is a day of remembrance of all things that happened both good and bad. An old 3RAR digger. a13

Good on you mate. Regardless whether the war was right or wrong or just indifferent, you were a soldier just doing your duty so thanks for your service. You sound like a good soul. Cheers and all the best to you and yours.
