I was in Manila during the APEC conference in Nov 2015.
Obama and other World leaders were in town, Roxas Blvd and other main roads were blocked, and it took 3 hrs to go from the airport in Pasay, to Ermita by taxi, which would be about 10kms.
Myself and a mate were using Pure VPN on phones and iPad.
We were staying in a hotel about 500 metres from the US Embassy in Ermita.
Lo and behold, the VPN was blocked!
Got emails from Pure VPN, that for reasons unknown, the VPN was non-operational at that time, and we had to wait until return home to Sydney to get it working again.
Please don't believe that these things are secure or infallible.
They can be switched on and off by the 'powers that be' at any time.
