Some share price moves to keep an eye on in the market:
FOODLAND (FOA) down 1c to $17.60: Touched $18 in initial
reaction to today's announcement of a 19 per cent rise in net profit to
$142.7 million for the year. Final dividend is up from 46.5c to 53c.
BONE MEDICAL (BNE) up 10c to 75c: Follows positive completion of
first human clinical testing of its oral calcitonin osteoporosis drug.
VENTRACOR (VCR) up 5c to $1.80: Went as high as $1.84 as the
company began the global trial of its "artificial heart".
OILEX (OEX) up 6c to 94c: The company reported today the
Rookwood South-1 well was being prepared for production testing within
the next two weeks.
GREAT ARTESIAN (GOG) up 1.5c to 24c: Follows announcement Oilex
is farming into EPP 27 in the offshore Otway Basin.
ABC LEARNING CENTRES (ABS) up 24c to $3.88: New wave of buying
in the wake of last week's $800 million merger proposal. Chief executive
Eddy Groves was interviewed on weekend business television. Child Care
Centres was up 7c to $1.42 and Peppercorn Management 10c to $10.40.
PALADIN RESOURCES (PDN) down 1.5c to 34c: Continued
profit-taking after Friday's 2c fall. Soared from 19c on August 31 to as
high as 39.5c September 9 on overseas buying sparked by the price of
uranium.
KIMBERLEY DIAMOND COMPANY (KIM) down 3c to $1.01: Went as low as
96c. The shares have been dumped from $1.44 early last week following a
corporate update.
WOOLWORTHS (WOW) down 14c to $13.46: Profit-taking after last
week's run-up from $13.08 to a record $13.60 on Friday.
QRSCIENCES (QRS) up 0.5c to 27.5c: Touched 29c. Announced on
Friday night it had raised $5 million through an oversubscribed
placement at 27c a share to sophisticated and professional investors.
