I don't believe that too many people are going to argue for accidental, or involuntary composition of physical reality, seeing as how life is accompanied by death which evolution should have ironed out by now, and the fact that natural laws are governed by limits and immutable qualities.

If physical reality is an accident, a fortunate set of composition then what on earth could possibly organise every necessary functional need for even the simplest life-form? All composition requires some primal causation, so a self-assembling, accidental-creation is impossible.

If we then look at some form of involuntary composition leading a universe of limits, natural law, defined forces and life we would have to conclude that every single element has within itself some inherent property of composition. Now if this was a truth then such a state of composition would never decompose, it would never die, because its properties are to compose, not to decompose. The fact that things die and decompose tells us that involuntary composition can not be a truth.

I'm sorry to say that all that is left is a Causation that is cognisant of Causing, its outcomes and implications. Now we can argue over what is the source of Causation, religion says God and then writes a fairytale limited only by imagination. The truth is nobody has a clue to the nature of Causation, but of the three options it can' be accidental and it can't be involuntary, so it must be Caused by a Causing agent that controls, limits, death, immutable natural law, etc.

While no true religious doctrine can ever argue against evolution because evolution is a reality, and Intelligent Design is Creationism by another name and Creationism is a contradiction of science, so it is not a reality, it is a human construct.

What about Theistic Evolution? It does not contradict Darwin and begins to elevate religion to some kind of reality and as it turns out there are no other alternatives for physical reality and life forming, with such magnitudes of order, limits and exactitudes. The there's the God problem and we are all lost again.

As for smallpox, physical reality is amoral, only the human spirit is challenged by a state of morality, right and wrong. The system is built upon death and suffering, hydrocarbons, coal, organic soils, air, humans, etc.
