starwoman, you keep repeating this nonsensical rant. Our prime minister is NOT elected directly by the people, never has been.

The leader of the party which takes the rein of government becomes the prime minister.

I don't understand why it is so hard for some to understand that.

The people did not elect Rudd as prime minister, or Gillard, or Abbott, or Turnbull.
