Archiving data is still mostly on HDDs, but moving to flash. Flash is about 80% more power efficient that HDDs.
Whilst ReRAM has the potential to take over from flash for archiving, my guess is that would be 10 to 20 years away.
To put things in perspective:
WBT chip = 8Mb (they can probably go to 32Mb after removing the other components of the chip , RISC microcontroller etc)
Samsung chip = 1000000Mb
Thats a lot of catching up to do.
