It makes economic sense to fund the private system, whether they're affiliated or not. Approx 40% of students in Australia attend private schools at approx half the cost per student to the tax payer. Imagine the burden to the system if we abolished support and the fees sky-rocketed forcing parents to overload the public system. Most people forget that most private schools are fairly humble establishments and shouldn’t be confused with the relative few that are privileged.
