Money is the root of all evil - so it is said. Private operators are interested in profit margins to the point of profit before people. These operators will take as much as they can or allowed to within some regulatory framework. The motive for government services should be people before profit - offering services without the pressure of money making but with fiscal accounting responsibility.
Governments seem to have the idea of taking away candy and then asking you to buy it back from a candy store at prices the store dictate. Any wonder costs have increased??
If govt was to re-acquire the grid in it's current state, taxpayers would be hit yet again for acquisition costs plus for costs to fix up ailing systems. The consumer yet again the loser to the tune of billions. Consumers have plenty of money for govt consumption - not so sure on that. AIMO
