Im with you Pintohoo. We should be building strategic pipelines for oil, gas, & water plus rail throughout Australia to supply our manufacturing industries with cheap power to enable them to be competitive on the world stage & also drought proof our primary producers. Oil gas & power companies should be forced to retain a percentage of the resource at a set domestic price instead of us paying world parity prices. The resources belong to the Australian people. Australian only companies companies should be given the opportunity to build the infrastructure such as construction camps, steel pipelines & all of the equipment needed to get these projects off the ground with accompanying tax breaks. We have 250,000 people over the age of 50 unemployed in this country, plus god knows how many young people who havnt got a job & not much future. Utilize the vast expertise thats being put on the scrap heap, plus for those over 65 who still have a lot to contribute. Teach the young a trade from the pool of wasted expertise, if they are building pipelines or rail give them a $50,000 bonus at the end of 2 years work out in the scrub for a deposit for a house. Pay the dole rate while they are being trained along with free food & accomadation. A 2 week one one week off roster isnt to onerous. These are only ideas a lot of which needs to be refined, but its a vision for this country & our present mob of pollies on all sides dont have a vision past the next election.
