I had some experience with this issue when I needed to replace a wiper motor on a Ford Capri. The Capri was built in Australia with Australian sourced parts, however, much of those parts are identical to the parts used in the Ford Laser.
The cost of the Ford Capri parts was sometimes double the cost of the Ford Laser parts. I would purchase Ford Laser parts as they were much cheaper. If you don't believe me, call Ford and ask for pricing on a Capri and Laser wiper motor (they are identical, but produced elsewhere).
