What you describe is true for an individual ,
But when working with another person one sometimes gets to 'see ' their memories relative to the matter on hand..
Eg A woman in her early 40's was brought to me in country VIC , was very frustrated at not being able learn to read and write,,
she was very angry .what appeared to me was at the time of Nepoleon's march into Russia , she was the historian of the events the trauma of seeing what happened and having write about it , caused her to close of her education in this area .
I heard later that she was back learning to regain these skills .No resistance or stress there...
