Every religion is time and place specific. A 2000 year old religion can not be expected to be relevant today, apart from the basic moral codes which never change.
It is to be hoped that human understanding has advanced considerably since the days of Christianity and Islam, but as some religions demonstrate belief often trumps reality.
The Holy Land is a place where religions were born that have transformed our lives today. That does not mean that the people themselves are holy but the land itself is the cradle of great theological movements which have touched every corner of the globe, given us the basis of law and human rights.
