It's almost like he didn't agree with the OTT Lab central policy of racial appeasement and pander, deliberately poisoning the well to give the Westrayans a taste of primitive dominion before making the mistake of voting YES.
My guess is he saw himself in conflict with direction of the Federal ALP and got out while the getting was good.
Of course it won't disuade rusted on idealogue voters allowing themselves to be led by the nose into the brave new world of fractured Australia......passive anarchists. Far removed form the true roots of the party and what it once stood for.
