I think in the US with marijuana they wandered in the wrong direction. Handed that over to the market to resolve. If for some reason we needed to make changes to the laws surrounding distribution, you've got another industry lobby to deal with. Bad idea.
In Sweden, to buy anything stronger than a beer you have to buy it at the Systembolaget, a government owned chain of liquor stores. If you buy too much in a month, someone comes to over to your house and has a word with you. Government supply is the only way to go for drugs if we choose to do it.
